I fail as a Chinese.

Working in a foreign country, especially in Canberra, whereby white people > Asians (unlike Melbourne), its very common to be stopped by Asians, speaking their "mother tongue language" to you.

Whilst working at Boost few days ago, there's this lady, obviously from China, ask me if I can speak Chinese. My Indian boss straightaway assume I can, and call me to talk to her.

I told her I understand but I can't really speak that well.

So she ask me "那可是什么?“ ("What is that ?" ) pointing at the  wheatgrass.

(I FML-ed in my heart)

ME "ERRR...  那可是wheatgrass"  ("that is wheat grass" - I DONT KNOW WHAT IS WHEATGRASS IN CHINESE!!)

China woman " ????, 可以喝的吗?“ ("can drink one ah?")

ME:”可以啊,你可以喝in a shot glass or mix in your smoothie"  (you can drink in a shot glass or mix in your smoothie - GAVE UP SPEAKING CHINESE IN THE END)

China woman "Oh

AND LEFT WITHOUT SAYING BYE NOR BUYING ANY JUICE FROM MY SHOP!!

Sigh.
4th year here, did a lot of damage to my Mandarin. I used to be able to speak quite alright with it. In fact, Mandarin used to be this language I was comfortable speaking in, but now...no more :(

I am officially a BANANA - YELLOW OUTSIDE, WHITE INSIDE !

hehe , I used han yu pin yin. If you know how to speak, it's easy!

Just use han yu pin yin to write chinese from a program (my friend downloaded it for me) , and if you want to see if you used the right word, can check from Google translator . haha
