My name is Michelle. I am like the 5th or 6th Michelle in Eddie's friend's list. I am HARDLY the first Michelle anyone know. In fact, only one claimed that I am her first Michelle friend so far. I was shocked.
Every time someone loses my number, I sms or call them back, it's not unusual to hear them say "Michelle WHO?" or "Which Michelle?".
(sometimes I do get irritated and then I will start telling stories like from where they know me eg. Deakin University, or if there's another Michelle they know from my university, I would say "the one doing PR course" or naming other people that would remind that person of me - eg. Eddie's girlfriend...and the list goes on)
When it comes to registering for some functions, I have to tell my FULL NAME. My surname is not very rare either. And I can't possibly say Michelle Yap Siow right. So full name it is :(
I know quite a lot of other Michelle Yap. Refused to mingle with them because it's damn awkward.
Recently, two incidents happened and I have had enough !!
Eddie brought me to meet his friends, new people that I am meeting first time in my life. So I introduced myself as "Michelle" (what else). We were at Melbourne Central shopping mall. A few minutes later, a screaming girl was calling out her friend's name to "wait up".
Guess what's the name being screamed?
MICHELLE !!
It just feels weirdd.
Then second incident was during the Bollywood movie. Met new friends there again, and somehow la, the director not creative also, named one of their INDIAN side actress Michelle ! :(
Not forgetting HANCOCK. I will always remember this movie clearly. I watched it at Canberra. There's this big boy bully who's name is Michel but it was pronounced as MICHELLE, and it's a HE !#$@!~#
People laughed their butts at me.
Sooooo irritating.
I did think of changing my name COUNTLESS times, but Eddie said if I change my name, he will call himself "Michael" - a name I don't like!!!!! :((

He said someone who change their name is because they lack the confidence in carrying the name. "It is just a confidence issue"
It's just too awkward lah ! sigh.

normal lo if have such a popular name....urs just the nick name...mine? i have the same first name as my friend...few other same school friend also...shwu yee(me), su-ee(my best friend), shu yi, another secondary friend...all same same..especially when my teacher called 'su yi'...we looked at each other, then look at teacher, see whether she look at which one of us...normally its her...cos my name will be pronounced as shuN yi....or shao yi...dont know how they become teacher....@.@?
ya, be more confident with ur name...just tell them. please call with surname next time...or full name...its more convenient...haha...
